CAN THAT MAN PITCH OR WHAT!

I'll tell you what! Jon Rauch just about screwed us by giving up three straight singles and a run, but Jesus came in, struck out Edmonds, and then Zim and Young helped out with a 5-3 double play to end the inning!

Some more notes I made, as I made my "unofficial scorer" debut with this game:

Top of the 6th: Glad that Pujols couldn't quite make that play at 1st and tag out Church! Especially when you consider that Nook Logan's ground-rule double that scored 2 RBI happened immediately following the bizarre 3-2-3 double-play by the Cards. On the hitting side of things, ultimately Nook won the game for us, and obviously as a pitcher Colome stopped us from giving the win right back.

Bottom 6th: Spectacular catch by Kearns on that long hit by Edmonds! That hit would certainly have scored two RBIs! And then he had the presence of mind to get right back up and launch it towards Dmitri, who finished off the (also bizarre) 9-3 double play.

Big ups to Ray King for getting us out of what could've been a disastrous 7th inning after Rivera gave up three straight hits.

Just started reading this blog, and I'll make note of my thoughts after the games I get a chance to see.

By the way, last night, did it look like to you that Tony Batista was gonna charge the mound after getting hit by the pitch? No one else mentioned it either during the game or in the post-game, but the way he was running, a couple more steps and he'd have been right in the pitcher's face. I was actually screaming "NO, TONY!"

in re. to the Tony Charge, I noticed. But then I remembered that he chose not to have theme music at RFK because he just thinks about Jesus Christ, thus he doesn't need it, and I figured he wouldn't resort to violence.
But shit, if I got hit in the ribs with a 93 mph cutter, I'd be charging.
